Introduction
Jackson Women's Health Organization (JWHO) is a State-licensed
Abortion Facility which specializes in reproductive health care including
emotionally supportive abortion care. JWHO maintains a friendly atmosphere
with patient care monitored at a high professional level. Our physicians performing
abortions are licensed medical doctors with specialized expertise in abortion
medicine. They are assisted by licensed nurses, laboratory technicians, and
trained counselors. JWHO complies with State regulations and local medical
standards.
Appointments
Call us in advance to make an appointment. By Mississippi State law, State
mandated information has to be given in person at least 24 hours prior to
the abortion procedure. At this time, our phone counselors are available Mondays
through Fridays from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm CST. Please bring any special problems
to the attention of the phone counselor. If the appointment has to be canceled
for any reason, please let us know at least a day in advance. Patients not
counseled at least 24 hours in advance will be rescheduled in order to meet
State requirements. Therefore, it is extremely important to be on time for
all appointments. Lab work, ultrasounds, and pre-op counseling will be performed
24 hours prior to the abortion. Phone hours are subject to change.
Eligibility
Eligibility for our procedures is up to the physician performing the abortion.
Patients traveling great distances should have their pregnancy confirmed before
making an appointment.
The
Cost
To ensure confidentiality we do not send bills for abortions. Fees are all-inclusive
and counseling, lab, local anesthesia, physicians fee, and birth control information.
A post-op exam and RhoGam for Rh- women is an additional modest charge. Full
payment must be made on the day of the abortion in the form of money orders,
cashier's check, American Express, MasterCard, VISA, Discover, or cash. The
credit card holder must be present to sign the sales receipt if a credit card
is used. For collection reasons, we do not accept personal checks. This policy
allows us to keep costs to a minimum. All fees below are subject to change.
Early Abortion (4-12 weeks LMP) - $450
RhoGam for Rh negative women - $50
Early Medical Abortion with RU486/Mifepristone - $550
RhoGam for Rh negative women (12 weeks and under) - $50
RhoGam for Rh negative women (13 weeks and over) - $125
Early
Abortion
After medical history forms, lab work, and counseling are completed, you
will be escorted into the procedure room. A mild sedation may be given to
eliminate anxiety. The abortion method used is non-traumatic vacuum aspiration.
It's hard to say what the abortion will feel like since it's different for
each person. Some women compare it to menstrual cramps. Afterwards, you are
closely monitored in a comfortable recovery room under the supervision of
the nursing staff.
Late
D&E Abortion
These abortions performed after the 12th week of pregnancy are similar to
first trimester procedures, but because the pregnancy is more advanced, the
procedure takes a little more time and more recovery time is sometimes required.
