In 1992, Choices Mental Health Center emerged out of the need for specialized mental health services for victims of sexual assault and incest. Its commitment to providing high quality, culturally sensitive, out-patient psychotherapy to victims of violence and their significant others led to the center's service expansion and licensure in 1995. Choices Mental Health Center remains committed to developing treatment programs that address the challenges that individuals, couples and families face in a highly complex society. We apply current research and creative thought to continuously expand our services to meet the ever evolving needs of our client body. To this end we join with governmental, social and community organizations to initiate timely, culturally, socially and politically sensitive responses to such problems as domestic violence, rape and assault as well as the broader range of traditional mental health issues. Ultimately, Choices Mental Health Center is committed to generalizing the conceptual framework developed in its experience with victims of trauma to the majority of therapeutic interventions within a focused care treatment model aimed at the reduction of symptoms and a return to baseline functioning.
