Bleeding:
You can expect your bleeding to vary from day to day. Some women
bleed off and on for up to three weeks and other women never have
any bleeding at all. You need to contact the clinic if you are having
excessive bleeding or clotting - soaking two maxi pads in one hour
for two consecutive hours, or passing blood clots the size of a
tennis ball or larger.
Cramping:
Some women may experience cramping following the procedure. This
is normal and could happen off and on for up to three weeks. Cramping
is often caused by blood clots inside the uterus and can be relieved
by using
the
pelvic massage. The Anaprox medication is helpful in relieving pain
associated with cramps. The use of heating pads or hot water bottles
is also helpful in reducing cramping.
The
Pelvic Massage is done as follows: sit on the commode/toilet,
place your fingers on either side of your navel. Push in and press
down working to the top of your pubic area. Repeat this movement
for 5 minutes. You may pass
clots,
blood and/or tissue, which is normal. Continue to perform the massage
as needed.
Emotions:
Many women feel weak, tired or depressed. These reactions are usually
due to abrupt changes in your hormone levels. We suggest you relax
for a day or two and resume your normal activities when you feel
comfortable.
